  • distributed rendering win32 missing textures - even with UNC

I'm having trouble getting the rendernode to render textures with DR.
Is there a definitive technical document explaining the correct way to set it up? Vray help files are a bit light to say the least.

Try and collect the scene in a single folder.
The script pack which bears my name has a collector which deals with IRMaps, proxies and so on as well, to that purpose.

We had this problem when our textures were on a Linux server. Now they are on a w2k3 server with DFS and works great both for textures as for vrayproxies. Never could figure what was the problem with the samba running on the Linux server.

      Best regards,

If you are sure the files are in the correct place, then it may be a permissions issue - if you enable the "Check for missing files" option, the vraylog.txt file on the render slave will list the missing textures.

Yeah its basically a simple matter of not being able to find the textures or not having access to them.

As the others said if you try copy all the textures to a single folder that all machines have full permosion too, and updated the max file. Then it should all work just fine.

ahem... I'm awfully sorry to have asked..

you see, it struck me, was I sure the rendernode had the right version of vray? no it didn't!! my bad. I was so sure I had picked the right install but no.
The moment both the workstation and the node had the same version everything went just fine.

I hereby thank you for your kind effort in helping me out and hope next time not to be so clumsy

The textures reside on a linux based nas, and I seem to have no problems getting to them from the node.

I might add that even non UNC updated files work flawlessly now.

              hey again

it seems danish characters are not supported with DR can you confirm this?
oddly, the same scene with the same paths etc. renders fine with normal netrender.

Ideally this should not be a problem at all, but if you can send me a small example, I will check to make sure.

                Best regards,
                Vlado

                  ..ahem hello?

Do you have an aggressive spam filter or what?
Tell me what you would need and I'll send it. Running silent really bugs me.

we got the same problem here... Not solve yet. we work on it.

The slaves do not find the textures...

                    any solutions ?

                    everything else is fine

                      hey there

our only problem seems to be with maps that include special danish characters or maps that reside within directories named with.. danish characters.... (the specific problematic characters are: æ, ø and å)

all other maps and directories work fine...

I've never heard anything from dear Vlado with regards to this.

Vray is a magnificent render but the documentation is so light that one wonders.....
