  • Annoying AA issues

I keep getting the same AA issue whenever i try to use the adaptive subdivision method. Is this normal for the default aa settings?

And to clarify, i'm not looking at the jagged edges, but the lines that look like they have no anti aliasing at all and are blurred to top it.

well with -1/2 you will get that.
You need to go 0/2 or 1/3 to get better results.

Won't that slow things down incomparably to the other methods?

It may also be that those details are simply very bright. You can try to use the Clamp colors and Subpixel mapping options and see if they help.

check also "object outline" which will help where geometry is concerned.

I was referring to the edge where the wall meats the ceiling (balcony) in the first image. Not only does it look like it has no aa, but it looks like it's blurred. I doubt that it has anything to do with the brightness, since it's not very bright.

Which means it now has everything to do with the (lack of) brightness, because it isnt being seen as important as brighter areas.

This isnt an actual problem, its a byproduct of your low settings so the only way to get rid of it is up the rendertime. Ive never gone below 0 for sampling, although I pretty much just use QMC instead of adaptive.

Ok, I see. Then simply reduce the Color threshold for the image sampler, and it should be ok.
