  • License not working woth VRay Final

Can not get license to work with Vray Final. Here are the steps I have done so far.

    (1) Installed VRay 1.50 for max8.
    (2) Installed dongle driver.
    (3) Launch VRay license server
    (4) Checked status of license server (http://localhost:30304/getstatus)
    (5) Statred Max7 software.
    (6) Loaded scene (previously rendered with 1.5C3.
    (7) Open render dialog, confirmed license file setting is "C:\Program Files\Common Files\ChaosGroup\vrlclient.xml
( Edited license server information. Confirmed license server is "localhost" and connection port is "30304"
    (9) Attemp to render.

At this point, the render fails because I can't obtain a license. Any idea what is wrong. I believe I have done all that I'm suppose to do.

Note: when I check the license status, this is the response I get.

    License type Total Engaged Free
    Render licenses 0 0 0
    Interface licenses 0 0 0
    Network licenses 0 0 0
    DR licenses 0 0 0

Do I need to have the WIBU-Key re-authorized to make it work?

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

I did....right-click or whatever on the WIBU icon by the clock (lower-right) and tell it to rescan for boxes. It should find your USB key, then start max.

Which V-Ray version do you have (advanced, educational, NFR)?

Ok; in that case I guess that the license on the dongle mismatches the educational version that you have downloaded; this can be easily corrected though - please send me an email to vlado@chaosgroup.com and we'll work this out.

            Vlado

An email was sent to you regarding the problem obtaining a license when using the 1.50 Final education version and possible mismatch with the dongle.

            Thanks

I am having similar problems but with the commercial version. The wibu key is found by the server, but V-Ray does not see it.

If you have had the dongle running for the RC's you will need to replace the vrlservice with the one that comes with 1.50.00

but it usually asks you to stop running vrlservice when you goto install it. so normally it should be replaced

Yeah, special case for those of us that run the dongle on a separate license server.
