Max crashing with new vray?

After working with RC5 for a month or so (with no problems) we updated 5 workstations with vray-final and the render farm.
Now max will crash without any warning at all at any given moment! has anyone else come across this?

odd problem. I havnt noticed anyone else having the same problem as you.

Does it happen when your rendering or even when just in the viewport?

yeah its really odd! it could happen at any given moment.... but this only started happening just after the upgrade? .. well see what happens

I have a lot of crashing with Direct X set as my driver(Even on 1.5 final). Its unfortunate too, because it works a lot better. But I had to switch to the software driver just so that I can work. It seemed to be random crashes as well. Try that, see if it reduces that crashes.

yeah i know what you mean about the G drivers .... but i think its because we are working on old scene's from RC5 ....

Don't mean to push the issue or piss you off , but are you sure there's nothing happening that could be causing it? Something as simple as clicking a parameter on, maybe using vray mesh object or turning on the legacy vray light/sun setting? In another thread, I posted a disappearing max crash related to starting and stopping DR servers that were used on a previous render. It took me a little bit to realize what was happening.
So is there some way you could document what happened right before each crash? It might help with diagnosing the problem.

am i missing something !?!? How can it be that you are moving from RC5 to vray 1.5 final and i can only download RC3 ??!



How can I get the final version too? I really really need it for my project i am working on (max9-64bit)...

Cos natty is a vray beta tester so he gets builds that are considered experimental - if after a lot of testing they are considered stable they get released as a public build such as the rc3 build - it's really not worth the chaos guys releasing every build they make - each one can have subtle problems that only affect certain scenes and if you had to remember what build you used to render a particular shot or scene and had to reinstall a specific build of vray just to get it to render correctly you'd possibly go mad. I was a beta tester or arnold a few years ago and we got every build that was made - the lighting changed slightly in nearly every build so you'd get different results from the same scene all the time. eventually for the sake of doing work predictably we stuck on the same build until there was something that was really solid to move everything to - Vlado is making a concious decision not to put out loads of builds since he'd waste a lot of peoples time on builds that mightn't work well enough for general use.

As for the final you can download it from your account page but you need a dongle for your license this time around - there's no software license server.

1.5 Final has been available since Aug. 7th.
It was released quietly with out a formal announcement.
You will need your harware dongle to run it though.

just got to .... http://support.wibu.de/en/faq/install.html and download the drivers for 64bit..

I have the problem...It's was working well, but yesterday I installed vray on my other machines as server mode for BB & DR and my Workstation Crash when I send a job to them....it works if I run BB or DR first and open max i n my Workstation after that.

no problem here, the drivers come with the installer and everything works just fine.

we get that. both myself and the guy at work got it. Don't know why? Happened once to me but it hasn't done it again.

natty, I am having the same problem.
I installed 1.5 final to have a look but had to go back to RC5 for production and now a lot of my files crash constantly.

I cant find a solution for it. I need to rebuild my computer as its overdue for a clean up so I will see if that fixes the problem. Its not an ideal thing to do but if it solves the problem I will be happy.
