DR causes other machines to crash

Yep, looks correct to me - if there are missing files, the slave will refuse to render the scene;

The reason for the missing files is that V-Ray cannot find them for some reason; are these files located in the correct places? Are you using UNC path names or mapped drives? Might be worth a try to copy the textures locally and see if that works.

All the files are located correctly as per UNC paths on the server.

When I open the same model on the Machine 2 - it renders fine also using the machine 1 as a slave !

Machine 3 is still not communicating at all.

All the machines worked perfectly before I installed 1.5 Final 2 days ago so, something has gone very wrong since the install of 1.5 Final - do you know what this might be ?

In that case, you can try to go back to an earlier build and see if this works; as far as I know, 1.5 final is not in any way different in this regard than previous builds.

For a clean install do I uninstall everything through Add/Remove Programs then go into Explorer and delete all Max 9, VRay and Wibu files from :C\, Program files and Common Files ?

Is spawner running as a service? If so, sounds like it is running without enough privileges to see the network share?

If it is not a service, are you opening the file in the same login as you are running spawner?

well, did you choose to register it as a service? or do you start it with the exe?

I start the spawner from a shortcut which links to the spawner.exe in the max root.

Right - I knew it was something silly.

Since installing VRay 1.5 Final I have been getting duplicate plugins for the Multimatte plugin so, I removed the duplicates.

Also, I have the NodeJoe plugin on the main machine but not on machine 2 - so I installed it on the machine 2 and now the DR works.

Now, I need to see what the problem is with machine 3.

I appear to be having the same problem, slaves crashing when i start rendering!!
I've tried the "VRAY_DR_SUBNET 0.0.0.0" trick but this does not seem to help, it just stops Vray re-connecting to the slaves.
All was working fine with RC3 and before, also the slaves all work fine when i render locally on them.

I've got one of those weeks where I need to cram 2 weeks of work in to 1!! so any help would be most appreciated!

Incidentially, since then the crashing has stopped thanks to Vlado and the SUBNET trick but the DR has also stopped altogether so, thanks god we don't have an animation to render !
