  • Backburner replacing PCs instead of adding!

    Hello all,
I have ran a fair amount of PCs on my render farm before no problem.
However, I now have the strangest thing happening. If I add a Dell laptop with 2GB RAM it sees it and performs well. If I then add another Dell with 2GB it replaces the other one in backburner! Everything includign computer name and IP addresses change but "handle" stays the same.

If I then add my own Desktop PC as a server, it replaces the last laptop! It is only happening with my PC and the 2 Dell laptops.....

    Anyone..?!?

same backburner version on all nodes ?

    delete on manager
    ..backburner\network\servers\*.xml

    delete on server
    .. backburner\network\*.xml
    and just start server.exe
let all setting as they are

    tell me if it helps

This is a complete shot into the dark but you can try changing the "servername" on the slaves to the IP instead of the name, we had UDP conflicts quite a lot. That doesnt affect the hostname displayed in the monitor, but it did solve some problems here.

          Regards,
          Thorsten

            Thanks Instinct,
but that's what I had in the 1st place. Bummer - off to London with a major problem.
Will pick up any suggestions when there,
            Thanks

              all,
thankfully I've set up a render farm in London without the same problem.
I'll try a reinstall of everything on all PCs laptops when I return to Glasgow.
              cheers
