  • Light path problems

I have a swept spline that I have a vray illum. material on. This area has become so splotchy now and the settings I have are just over the top to get it this clear. This image was rendered with 150 interp samples and 100 h subs. That really seems over and above what I need but cranking it up seems to be the only way to make this behave.

lc is the second bounce and I have not seem much of a difference between 100 - 800 samples.

Thanks for any tips. - I know I have had this problem before with path lights and I don't think I was able to find a solution before.

if it's a hidden spline - delete it and use a series of really thin vray lights.
vraylightmaterial only uses GI light, and this is why you have to have the settings much higher. Vraylights won't have this problem.

That seems to have made the difference. Now I have many curvy lines that need to be light emitting objects do I need to make them all a series of vray lights?

      Thanks for the feedback sv

what are your render settings? ... you probably just need to raise your irr map .. we create this effect with vray light mat all the time, and it does depend on your irr map settings.

Natty - I was using various settings but for the irr map on this image it was -6,0. Sure seems like I should be able to so this.

natty is of course right, but look at the examples i posted in this thread:
            http://www.chaosgroup.com/forum/phpB...light=skylight

if you could put a VrayLight around the object, or a series of small vraylights, but set it or them to skylight portal, your quality of light would improve.
