  • Sun/Sky

I think I broke my sky. When I use the sun/sky under max 9 and v-ray 1.5 final no matter what I do the sky is white. Any ideas? I also noticed it is showing not being used in max's material editor.

Do you have any Exposure control plugins applied? If you use the V-Ray VFB and right click on the render, what does it say as the RGB values?

    Best regards,

      Sun/Sky

I used lele's exposure tool, but since then I have merged the model into a new scene and reapplied the sun and camera, but still white.

      float is:
      1.6
      1.7
      1.6

      RGB is:
      255,255,255

        sun/sky

A shutter speed of 600 and and ISO of 100 with f-stop of 8 starts to expose the sky, but those numbers are way off.

make sure under global options you use the new model and conform to max's photometric units.
Drop in a default camera, and the sky should be properly exposed by default (bar gamma curves applied).
The exposimeter does nothing to the objects themselves, but change the value of isos or shutter speed as you would by hand, so there is no chance, as remote as it may be, that a fresh, new camera may be altered by it.

How does it look in a completely new scene?

            Best regards,

              Sky

I did ad a new sun/sky and camera, which corrected the issue. I have also noticed on another project that if I play with the sun/sky/cam to much I can get very lost. Last night I was working on a scene and without changing anything but exposure settings I lost my sun being visible when it was check visible. I have found that when I start to get lost it is best to start over.
