  • Light Leaks - once again

    it seems that vray doesnt like me anymore...this time i got problems with light leaks. i searched the forum but couldnt find a solution. on this job i am using Vray 1.5 RC3, here is a screenshot to illustrate the problem

    http://img212.imageshack.us/my.php?i...htleaksrt8.jpg

    what i tried and what didnt helped to solve the issue:
    * switched from lc to qmc
    * turend of the filtering of the lc
    * used very high irr settings
    * played with the secondary ray bias
    * changed the surfaceID

    the walls have some thickness, there are no gaps between them.

    It is hard to say what may cause this right away, since yo ualready tried most of the work-arounds; if you can send me just that portion of the scene though, I'll be able to tell you more on how to solve it.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

        Have you tried 'Check sample visibility' under the IR advanced options?

          yup, and it looks allright. no light leaks at all. once i unchecked it the light leaks are back. i am starting to think that it has something to do with the model (created by someone else in cinema4d and exported into the 3ds format).

          EDIT: oops, i was using the show samples checkbox not the check sample visibilty checkbox, trying it now...

          EDIT2: that seems to fix the problem...thanks !

              Are you re-using your IR or generating a new new one each time?

                    yup, i would remodel the whole thing but the client wants the images tomorrow. like i said, its an imported c4d model done by someone else who didnt finished the job right now i remove the spots in ps and it seemsto work quite good, luckily there are ust a few leaks...

                      I'm not sure what else to try at this point, maybe Vlado has some more tips. I know it can be painful working with someone elses poorly built model.
