difference between max9 32 and x64

Hi,

I've been trying to deal with DR and maps issues and
found an .ini file on the x64 machine that is not present on the 32 bit node.
It is called "3dsmax.ini" and is in the root Max directory. Should there be one of these files in the root folder on the 32 bit machine?
Just hoped others could tell me what they have on their 32 bit setups.

autodesk changed the way the directory structure worked in max 9. i am sure they have some fancy name for it like user folders or something like that. basically, it several of the directories were to the 'my documents' area of your computer. i am not a big fan of it, but luckily you can revert it back to the previous way that it worked by opening the 'InstallSettings.ini' file in the root directory of max, and changing the line

useUserProfiles=1

to

useUserProfiles=0

though i should probably mention that this will reset several of your settings, and they will need changed back.
