  • Backburner, V-Ray 1.5 and 3ds max 2008

    Hello,

I am testing our deployments of 2008 on our render farm and I am noticing a problem. Regular render jobs sent to our render farm are pulling V-Ray licenses. Has anyone else experienced this?

    Thanks,

V-Ray will not require a license if rendering from a 3ds Max instance which has been started in slave mode (usually from backburner or the v-ray spawner). A license will only be taken if rendering is done from an interactive session of 3ds Max. However, the render slaves must still be able to connect to a working license server.

Nevertheless I'll make a few tests here to see if there are any issues with 3ds Max 2008 - I know it was fine for the 3ds Max beta, but one never knows...

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Thanks, Vlado. The BB monitor is giving me the message that server cannot render because there are not more V-Ray licenses available. I will try some more testing on my side to determine a cause.

        Mark,
Are there any firewalls that might be blocking the render nodes from the license server?

I believed I tracked this down to a bizarro install problem on 2008 based on a batch file. It would seem that V-Ray was not communicating with the license server.

          Thanks
