  • Caustics problem

I have problem with caustics that wont show if i add just one box-plane for environment. All the time i was do this with alpha channel but in this case I want better integrated image with background because lot of trees, leaves in the scene etc.
Also box is excluded from daylight (vray sun)
Here is a scene with one box-plane that simulate environment and caustics is no visible:

    Box environment settings:

Caustics is visible without box-plane environment

    Any suggestion would be appreciated

This is solved for the service pack, but in the meantime you can use a VRayOverrideMtl material with the base material to be the background, and the other materials - perfectly transparent.

Worked for me... What does your VRayOverrideMaterial look like?

        Best regards,

Should i now exclude from vray sun or not?

I meant transparent as with an Opacity map, rather than refraction.

just get rid of the refraction and put a vraycolor in the opacity slot.

You are almost there... now just make the color in the VRayColor texture black instead of white... (remember that white is full opaque, and black is full transparent).

Couldnt you just move the usn inside of the box as well?

Nope, the position of the sun does not matter; only its direction. V-Ray will always assume the sun is infinitely far away.
