  • Blend material and alpha?

I have vray blend material and I'd like to opacity map it.

So I put that blend material to be base material for new blend material.
Then I add totally transparent material to Coat 1 and alpha bitmap map to Blend amout slot.
I should have opacity mapped blend material now, but I have
material without any opacity changes. Why? How should I do this?

Hope you understand what I'm trying to do...

(normal Max blend material works, but the alpha looks really bad)

    Stupid me

Ofcource I need to keep base material transparent and put other material
to coat layer. That way it works perfectly.

Thank you for letting me write this Q&A post...

To do this, simply put your material as Coat material (leave the Base material blank) and put the opacity map as the Blend map.

[Edit] Just saw you found this out too
