  • dongle liscenses quit working

Hey we don't post often here, mainly too busy.

    Our problem:

We have 2 dongles on a 2003 server 1 with 4 lics and 1 with 1 lic. We have been rendering an animation project threw backburner for the past 5 days and all of the sudden today none of the computers will read any liscenes files. hence we can no longer render. We can still read all network drives and everything just no licsenes. We have even tried installing the dongles on other computers and still no luck...

has anyone else had this issue?

    Thanks

Can you check if the V-Ray license server is still running? If no, start it again and see if it produces any errors. If it starts, can you access it through a web-browser (http://machine:30304 where machine is the IP address of machine where it is running)? If no, what kind of error do you get; if yes, what does it say on the status web-page?

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

The liscenes is running and showing both dongles with no errors, however i cannot access it using (http://machine:30304)

This is what the web page says:

      The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      Please try the following:

Click the Refresh button, or try again later.

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.

To check your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click Settings. The settings should match those provided by your local area network (LAN) administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).
If your Network Administrator has enabled it, Microsoft Windows can examine your network and automatically discover network connection settings.
If you would like Windows to try and discover them,
      click Detect Network Settings
Some sites require 128-bit connection security. Click the Help menu and then click About Internet Explorer to determine what strength security you have installed.
If you are trying to reach a secure site, make sure your Security settings can support it. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section and check settings for SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, PCT 1.0.
Click the Back button to try another link.

I had a similar problem yesterday. Somehow, during an install of max2008 I managed to kill the vray license server and had similar probs to yourself.

If it happens again try clicking start menu/chaos group/vray.../licensing/launch vray license server

            Worked a treat for me.
