  • New IrrMap animation mode and "use light cache for glos

    Hi all,
i've a little question to clarify workflow.. :

Basically when "Use Lc for glossies" is ON, you can't set 2nd bounces to none, as LigthCache, if i'm right, is not totally saved with Irradiance map if this option is ON. (if i've read correctly this forum )

My question is : When i make a IrrMap animation prepass, if the "use light cache for glossies" is checked, on final render, do i need to recalculate the LC at each frame, while IrrMap is loaded from files ?
And If i uncheck it for IrrMap anim prepass, can i set safely 2nd bounces to none for the final passes ?

hope my question is not too useless or already answered.
    Best Regards,

You do not need to rerender the LC, just save the LC calc in flythru and reload it at render time, it will be ignored for GI but still used for the glossies.

Is the the light cache flythrough mode still good for use with animating geometry which is what he has (otherwise why use the prepass option)? I've been calcing a light cache per frame in the tests I've done.

Yeah, good point, I guess it depends whether or not the animated objects have glossies.

humm thanks guys for quick answer and discuss..
          interesting point...
so if no glossies on moving objects-->2nd to LC flythrough mode.
if there is any doubt about that... -->1nd IM anim final render and 2nd light cache in single frame mode... right ?

I have to control gains/losses in time for Imap calc with and without "Use light cache for glossies" to go my way... in my case, LC take about 8s, so i need to see i what i've gained on one hand is not loosed in Imap if it have to interpolate glossies.

          Many Thanks !
