  • VRay Scene converter error

    I am using Max 2008 & VRay 1.50.SP1

When trying to convert a scene (exported from Revit to dwg then opened in Max) to a VRay scene I am getting the following error:

    MAXScript MacroScript Error Exception

    --Typre error:if-test requires BooleanClass, got:undefined

here is a small piece of the file that cannot be converted:

Another strange recent occurrence (was not happening yesterday) is that whenever I open a file directly, when Max opens it does not find VRay, the option does not even appear in the renderer options. If I open Max by itself it works properly and if I open the file from within Max then it works fine. Any ideas? I checked the plugin.ini and it is in order.

Is it possible that you have more than 1 copy of 3ds Max / VIZ installed on your system?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Ah yes ... I have 2008 32bit and 64. The 32 bit does not have VRay installed and apparently is the one associated to the files (they look so similar!). Now that I think about it, I tend to open Max first with a shortcut, then open the files from within. I have to fix the file associations.

Was not happening yesterday because I was not opening the files directly.

      Thanks

I am suffering the same error. I have Viz 2008 installed with Vray 1.5.SP1.

I have check if more than one version of Viz is installed. Is there any other reason that could cause this?

It happens on all files even empty scenes and we get the same problem on both our Viz machines.

        Thanks,

The second copy of VIZ problem was for the second part of the question about opening .max files; for the converter problem, you will need to update the one supplied with the V-Ray installation with the attached one (it goes into the "[program files]\Autodesk\3ds Max 2008\Scripts\Startup" folder). This is already corrected for future builds too.

Great! I'm happy this function works again, it’s really great with Bionatics foliage and old scenes

Man I love this forum. I was just going to post about this issue. I have max 8 with 1.5 and max 2008 with 1.5 sp1 installed and max 2008 wouldn't convert architectural materials imported from Revit...but with Vlado's download, now it does. Thanks Vlado!
