  • affinity issue...

i know this is (or was...) a known max problem in the past, but i'm getting it again.
one minute i'm rendering fine on all 8 cores, the next time i hit render i'm down to one core - the only solution seems to be shut down viz and start again and it'll be fine (for a while...)

this used to happen all the time on my old dual xeon workstation but i could set the affinity in task manager - now i can't even do that! (access denied, although i am admin...think that's a vista issue)

just wondered if anybody else was having similar problems?

    cheers!

    workstation spec:
    dual 5345 quad xeon's
    tyan i5000xt mobo
    4gb ram
    vista business 64
    vray1.5
    viz2008

p.s. feel free to move this to off topic if it shouldn't be in the vray problems section...

Are you sure you have not accidentally turned off multithreading in the 3ds Max Preferences (sometimes this turns off by itself...)

    Best regards,
