If you use Phong BRDF for your floor material rather than the default Blinn, it will go away.

Is this a bug or by design?

that's what I was wondering, because it seems to work as it should here. both with phong and blinn (actually there seems to be something weird going on with ward, but I never use it).

You might say that it is by design; this is because of the fix for the dark edges when using the VRayEdgesTex map as a bump map.

The two issues are exclusive - if I fix one, I will break the other. This is due to the nature of the Blinn/Ward BRDF definitions.

The only solution for both cases would be the V-Ray BRDF which we are working on.

            Best regards,
            Vlado

Thanks Vlado and looking forward to a new BRDF in the future.
