  • Vray 1.50 SP1 dynamic memory bug?

    Hi.

I'm rendering some scenes with many displacement for grass and bricks, and I get a problem with the dynamic memory.

My workstation is full 64 bit (Win XP, Max 2008, Vray 1.5 SP1) with 8GB RAM

So i set the dynamic memory limit up to 4GB (the rendering takes aproximatively 3BG of ram without displacement)

I get a warning when rendering starts: the dynamic memory is too low performance loss.

The performance loss is really effective, an awfull.

I set the dynamic memory to 2GB, it works well.

    Thanks.

Yep, it looks like a bug. You can set it up to and including 4095 MB succesfully, beyond that it will not work. I've already corrected this for future builds.

      yoou're the best. Vlado.

When we will get the next release? for Christmass?

Vray will have the F-Prime like interactive rendering in it?

I cannot really say for certain when the next build will be released; however, unless there are show-stopping issues that need urgent attention, we plan for a second service pack around sping-time next year fixing any small issues that may have remained (like the one above), and maybe adding a thing or two. Beyond that any major new features will be included in version 2.

As always, if you have a problem that can be corrected only with a new build, you can email me at vlado@chaosgroup.com

        Best regards,

i've got mine set to 6000mb, static and its working fine. But thats by default and i havnt worked on a scene that uses more than 2gb ram as yet anyway, since the new version.
