  • Camera defined but not found

I sometimes get this error in backburner when network rendering:

"Camera xxx defined but not found"

If I open the model the camera is there - only workaround is to make a new camera.

    Only happens with VrayPhysical Camera

    XP64 - Max9 SP2 - VRAY 1.5 RC4

    - is this a bug? and if so is it fixed in the final version?

I don't think it is something for us to fix; do you have more than 1 camera with the same name?

No, no duplicate cameras... but have to admit it is always in models whit a bucketload of cameras Vray and Standard..

If you can reproduce it from the same scene by deleting everying but the camera and maybe some object, you can email it to me at vlado@chaosgroup.com so that I can check if there is anything that we can do.

          Best regards,

              Are you using Xref's?

I had this a while ago, turned out to be an xref issue: If you net render a scene specifying a camera from that is in an xref within your scene you'll get the "Camera defined but not found" error. I think it's because Max verifies the camera is present before it loads the xref's. Nothing to do with Vray as far as I could tell, just another flaw in the xref system...

              Hope that helps,
              Olly

I had similar issue when using Xrefs. But the error only happened in backburner on the stitching pass. Didn't realize at the time it was an xref problem. Thanks olly

Cameras in XRef Scenes cause problems. If you must XRef, use XRef Objects. They have worked fine here. Also, another cause of this error for us has been an accidental space either at the start or the end of the camera name. Just rename the camera to fix.

There is an option in XRef scenes menu to ignore imported cameras, maybe it can help with this problem.

No, no Xrefs in scene... but unsure if some cameras might have been merged from Xref.

Nevertheless, I think I found a solution... If I rename the cameras in the scene attached, suddenly all cameras renders fine. Must have been something corrupted in the object handling.

If anyone wants to try - attached is a file where 2 of 3 cameras fail when rendering on BB. Rename them and - vupti - everything is ok.

You had a space at the end of the names of 2 of your cameras.

                        "I27 Glass Clouds A "
                        "I28 "

This was your problem (see my previous post).

Thanks Gilpo... I guess this is one of those little quirks with BB that you have to learn the HARD way.

Sorry for missing your post in the first instance.
