  • Gradient Ramp problem

    Hi there,

Have just applied a gradient ramp (vray material in the diffuse slot) to a curved plane that acts as a floor and backing to a scene I have created.

Thing is, when the gradient ramp is applied it really makes max 2008 work hard. The computer stops responding and the render takes ages. When I dont use the map everything is back to normal.

    Any ideas ?

    Thanks

    Steve

hmmm, it seems i dragged an empty slot over the gradient map in the diffuse slot and max crashed. So now restarting max...maybe its a max 2008 issue ..

hmm i had this sometimes, but not only with a gradient map. try in your scene to remove the old material (delete it) and replace it with a totaly new one

Happens here only when show map in viewport is on, and a bigger bitmap texture upload size is selected for viewport display. Gets worse when I map the gradient ramp's colors with other shaders, eg. bitmaps. And yes, only in max 2008. So, if anyone has a hint on this, it's warmly welcomed.

        Best regards,

        A.
