  • License server access over t'internet?

Has anyone any experience of accessing and working with a remote license server?

We have a server with three usb dongles, and the license server working fine in the studio. And in a moment of clarity i thought I could access the same from home for putting in unnecessary extra hours.

Now, the correct ports are open, and it does seem to work fine initially in getting a license, however if I open the material editor, it just hangs, and eventually has to be put down. It's Max2008 32bit, and 1.5 sp1 btw.

Is there a known issue with this or anything like that? Any help appreciated.

Are you able to open the render scene dialog and render a simple scene?

Hadn't tried that, but just have and it does render.. After a serious pause at the ¨preparing renderer¨ stage, maybe 30 seconds.. And another pause at the end of the same amount.

This is with a teapot on a vrayplane type of basic scene.

Same problem with the material editor, and generally, max has tendency to pause for 30secs when re-opening the render dialogue etc.

Ok, then for some reason the internet connection to the license server is too slow; not quite sure how this can be fixed though, it depends on your network set up.
