Also...On more thing. I made a proxy and spread it around. Then I realized I wanted just a hint of a different color on some of the trees...I adjusted the material and then applied it to the various proxies....SHould I have done this BEFORE proxying?

I don't think it matters. I change the color of proxied trees, cars, etc all the time after their initial change from mesh to proxy.
