  • faster...I need faster...LOL

I am using Irad Map and QMC. The renders are about 14 min and I need them around oh say....5...LOL... Are there any settings that I can improve to lose a couple of minutes. Time is the crunch and I need this fly over animation of 900 frames done by Monday morning. Should I precalc the Irad Map then come back tonight and render? Every 10 frames should do it right? Any suggestions are helpful. Oh....and I have about 1800 proxy trees. Proxies kickass butt and I would have been abel to do it without probably....Sweet...

    Thanx all

Yep, you definitely should precalc an Imap

Or use bruteforce (with low subdivs - 22) and LC (on secondary). Just test it.
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

I'll bet a saved imap will be way faster and have less noise, every 10th frame is probably overkill though, we use 50's on 90% of our paths.

Also if your animation is fairly slow, you can render every other frame and use twixtor or after effects retiming to interpolate the missing frames. Most times a client won't ever notice.

Cool...Well...It already started and in the meantime the meeting moved to 4 days later.....Wheeewww. Since I got the Dual Quad, the 30-40 computers i had here on the render farm are just obsolete. I use the Engineers, Architects, Draftsmen, and surveyors workstations as nods and it was fine until I started using the power of the Quad...LOL...
I will try those later on, thanx all
