VRay crashing or object dissapearing in funky contruction

We have a scene in which the same contruction appears as in the attached file. The setup is somewhat strange but it works.
VRay seems to have trouble with it when using irr maps. The top sphere sometimes dissapears or max just completely craches when trying to render a sequence. It is related to the spacewarps.

We worked arround the problem but I thought I would just let it know.
