  • Ivy proxy problem

I have problems with Ivygenerator and vray proxy.
I have animation project with 15 same villas and I would like to instance them but they have lots of ivy foliage on them and before I did that I have tryed to make vray proxy but it doesnt work.
When I try to render it crashes while calculating lightcache.
Even when I try to render just one proxy Ivy the max craches.
I use Vray 1.5 RC2 and I dont want to upgrade it to new version of vray untill I finish this project.
I never had any problems making proxys with Onyx trees and this is my first time I try to make it with ivy.

    Hi!
Recently I had the same problem but with onyx trees. I had 3 different types but for some reason I didn't instance them but i did copies. And that was crashing Max at LC calculation- not enough memory /RAM/. I also read the troubleshooting guide at the vray online help site- that gave me some ideas too.
With a script i did make all proxies instances and the problem was gone for good. Never used Ivygenerator though...

The problem is that I didnt copy them.
I have just converted one mesh to proxy and tryed to render it and max crashed.
By the way when I render mesh before I convert it to proxy everything is ok but I cant afford to have 200 instanced meshes of Ivy because of memory, and I need proxy.

did you convert the ivy to editable mesh before converting to proxy?

i converted it to vraymesh and rendered it in a blank scene and even though i got the warning "warning: performance loss: dynamic memory limit too low" it still rendered. took forever and a day to render though. actually it seemed to get stuck on some part of it. dont know why.

when i opened the vraymesh in max8 i didnt get any warnings though.
seems to be stuck in max8 as well. why not generate another mesh

There was a problem with older versions of V-Ray rendering large proxies; this should be fine in the latest builds though.

              Best regards,
              Vlado

I meant that older versions crashed; the newer versions will render, although slowly if the dynamic memory limit is too low.

But this is not a big proxy.
I have exported one three times bigger ivy and there were no problems with it.
By the way in my task manager memory usage jumps from 1 gb to 2 gb every 10 seconds and I get graph looking like wave.
The problem is not hi poly mesh but something other.
Maybe you can download it Vlado and try something.

                    Thanks.
