Could it be that your regional settings aren't the same on all your systems?
If you're using the , as decimal notation, every system should use that. If there are systems using the . as notation you can get colour differences.www.artbyarjan.com - Online portfolio (temporarily offline)

Can somebody make exponation about NWF (network work flow), my problem is that not all the machines can load the textures, and proxys.
paths are networking sets, all the textures are in one folder and proxys as well. Main workstation and server render fine thay are 64bit, but all the 32bit machines doesnt.. all the maps are transfered in all the machines too.
My question is what is the best way to set the paths to proxys and maps, considering DR.

You say that all your maps and proxys etc are in one folder on a server? Then why are all the maps transfered to all the machines? As long as they have access to the server you should be okay.www.artbyarjan.com - Online portfolio (temporarily offline)

Do you submit your jobs through Backburner? Cause then you have to select "Submit as 32 bit job" in order to render it on those systems.
Click the Advanced button and check the Submit job as: 32 bit radio button.
See if that works.Last edited by DrJan; 22-02-2008, 06:43 AM.www.artbyarjan.com - Online portfolio (temporarily offline)

32bit win winxp dont render any texture, server and one of the workstations witch is 64 bit and working on Vista rendering fine.
oh, and fyi, I don't bother with BB since it seems to work even less than Vray DR...
How is your network set up? Mine is just a workgroup with 4 machines, but I'm eventually going to try setting up my server and networking with a domain instead....Last edited by voltron7; 22-02-2008, 03:29 PM.

Network is just one workgroup 10 machines, no BB, only DR, all the textures are on the server. Paths are set, textures are there, all shares are visible trough windows explorer, network is gigabit.
Ill try to bring my laptop and see is there will be the same problem. I got Vista 64 and winx 32bit allready installed on it for the test, hope this is not a 32bit max/vray problem.
All the textures are in one folder, when i check missing textures in vray render dialog, other machines stops to render at all. I forgot to mention that all the textures are duplicated in the same paths on the server like in my workstation, no textures are on 32bit nodes, just network path is set to the textures in the scene.
Vray is installed as follow: server and 32bit nodes got the render + DR, my workstation is with full license + license server.
I hope that I'm not messing tings up..
Best reggards :
Andrian

I find that sometimes when you merge files or import something. they have some materials assigned not compatible with VRAY. Sometimes you forget to change the material or something. In material editor click the icon "get from scene" then make sure in the window that comes up you have the check box "incompatible" selected. You'll be amazed at how many strange things comes up here.
It usually also say what objects this material is assigned to, however the other day I had 3 different environments maps show up assigned to environment under the incompatible list (incompatible stuff show up as grey in this list). Anyway I looked everywhere in my scene and also under render environment and could not find these maps. The only way to get rid of it was to make a new scene and merge objects from old scene one by one. After all objects got merged into new file there was no trace of those 3 maps. Very strange, but after the merge there were no strange maps anywhere.
Also in max under file menu, check in asset tracking that all your bitmaps are using the UNC file method such as: \\servername\maps\bitmap1.jpg instead of F:\maps\bitmap1.jpg. Sometimes things get overlooked.

All the directories to the maps are in network. Asset manager alt+t can show u all the files used and all the dir to the maps and proxys. As I say workstation that gets the files from server , and the server is 64bit and render fine, all the proxys all the maps are there, 32bit machines can't. And when I check for missing files in render dialog 32bit machines report that there is a missing maps, 64bit dont. I'll try to render with BB.
best regards :
Andro
