  • Render to texture problems

Hello, i'm trying to make an animation using the render to texture to bake all my textures, it's a complex of many houses, and of course it has a few trees, a playground for the kids, etc.
Well, my problems began when i tried to render to texture some onyx trees, they rendered out just fine, but, apparently the back side of every leaf it's completly black, i took that it has some problems with the normals, but i couldn't find a decent work around this.
Second, i tested how the asphalt would look if i rendered out a 5000x5000 px image for all of it, (to give you a general idea, the whole asphalt in my animation covers around 12 blocks) and of course it look a little blurry, not a biggie because i can texture it a little bit with PS.
Well, 5000x5000 didn't rendered, it crashed, i rendered at 4500 and it worked out fine, but after that, it has been crashing more and more frecuently, all my houses, trees and shrubs are proxies, and im just in the final part of this animation, and i cannot make a render over 512x512 without a crash, i've tried lowering the Light cache (which it works... kinda..) and the IR soultion to medium.
But still, i have the "unhandled exception error" and the complete shut down of Max, without even been able to send the report to autodesk.
Any ideas on how to improve my scene? or what settings do i need to post to make it work more efficiently?
    THanks guys!

Sounds like you are running out of memory. If you are texture baking everything, and then re-applying hi-res textures onto all your geometry, you are going to be using vast amounts of RAM. I would follow all Vlado's suggestions here:

If that doesn't work, maybe don't texture bake. Your render time will increase, but will it really be any slower than trying to texture bake everything?
