  • Vray with Max 9 x64 - CPU usage problem

    Hi,

I have problem with rendering on this "combination": Vray 1.5 SP1 + MAX9 x64 + Win XP x64. CPU usage (while calculating LC and rendering) is about 50-60% (sometimes 70%). I have try to set Dynamic Memory limit to 3-4GB - default geometry: dynamic - then CPU usage was 98-100% but the rendertime (and LC calculating time) was 2x longer than on MAX9 x32 with CPU 100% usage. Can someone help me with this problem ?

    Hardware: 2xIntel Xeon Quad Core - 4gb RAM - WINXP x64

What would happen if you set the default memory to static, and the memory limit to e. g. 3000?

    Best regards,

      Hi Vlado,

If I set the default memory to static and the memory limit to 3GB - there is the same effect - CPU usage 50-60% I've even try on "clean MAX" / MAX SP1 / MAX SP2.

        any other ideas ?

p.s. I've noticed that when I have LC+IRRMap "combination" with dynamic limit (3Gb) - LC is calculating with 50-60% CPU - IRRMap is calculating with 100% CPU - Rendering about 60-75% CPU (when displacement areas are rendering - CPU usage 100%)

I found this in the bios and turned it off, and hey presto, my xeon system is finally performing how it should...faster than the qx6700...at last

          Thanks for all the advice..
          Bios setting Maybe?

thanks for the advice - but it doesn't make a difference Still the same situation. We have Xeons E5420 on Intel Workstation Board Veronia S5000XVN Motherboard.

p.s. I checked on Dual Core - Vray on Max x64 works fine - 100% CPU usage.
