With Cad sources you dont have that choice. And usually you dont need it either given the CAD is done properly. Tesselating it is one part. Ensuring Vertexnormals are preserved is another part. And it's a serious pita to be honest. Do you have access to the original Data at all ?
And there is no need to make it a quad mesh or re-topologise the mesh. That will only lower accuracy. It might be the only choice to remodel it if you cannot get a different tesselation or influence the conversion to some extend. But it wont be fun at all if you wanna do it right heh..
