  • about size and view :-)

    helo

i got some strange problem , when i am rendering camera view to 2400/1800 resolution with some 2d displace vray runs over the 2,6 gb and falling down.

When i took the same scene and render clasicall front view ,for example ,to 2400/1800 resolution vray runs nicely and eat only 350 mb of ram! with the same 2d displace.

For additional information i have to say i am rendering by DR through the net render , one stripe of picture renders two computers.( no maps problem ).
    My soft is : viz 2006 sp1 and vray 1.5 sp1

      re

I would guess that rendering from the front view or any view port view for that matter (if this is what you mean by classical front view) would be far less taxing on memory. Why net work render with stripes? Disable Viz's frame buffer and enable Vray's...render your high resolution to raw file format.

I'm still having a problem though with this. Last night max crashed in the middle of the render while I was rendering at 6400x4800...it almost made it. I was not rendering memory frame buffer but I was previewing the image while it was rendering the vrimg file. Maybe I should not have been previewing it?

no need to have a frame buffer while rendering to a vrimg file

does save a lot of ram when using large resolutions.

sometimes displacement isn't really necessary and if it is you can always render regions while other areas have displacement turned off and put it together later.

          2shytigercp :

well why net render with DR ? because DR is for speed and backburners stripes is for memory saving ( i am in 32 bit )

only what i am just curious is why perspective views eats so many memory and why orthogonal views not.

PS : that 2d displacement is on the roof so is necessary for my render. And i am using vray frame buffer and saving into png file.

2werticus : well but when one stripe with 2d displacement is falling down i never see others .
And about vrimg file what is it ? Does PS read this file ?
