  • shadow problems

Hi guys I am either going mad or stupid or there is something wrong with my shadows.
I have hopefully included a max 2008 file with a simple scene. My problem is that i think that my shadow being cast by the box against the other box is not traveling far enough along the face of the the bigger box. Can someone have a look and confirm I'm going mad.

    Cheers

You could try to set the Shadow bias parameter for the light to 0.0 and see if this helps.

      thanks Vlado,
Thats fixed it, strange though because I never usually touch the shadow bias.....I wonder how many other times I've messed that up! hehe

Vlado, I've noticed that if you use a target direct light and you happen to change the system unit from millimeters to meters then the shadow bias dosn't change from 0.2 but if you use the daylight system with the vray sun and change from millimeters to meters then the shadow bias changes also from 0.2mm to 200mm which really messed up the shadows. Probably not a bug but caught me out big time

I've just wasted about half a day trying to work out why my vegetation was looking so flat!... shadow bias was at 200mm. A lesson learnt and a warning to all !
