  • Rendering animations

I have been following Bobby's thread about LC and all the other stuff...and I just need some clarification. I have a 900 frame animation that basically pans from left to right. The camera moves over the course of the timeline, but the target remains the same. I am in a boat going down the river looking at the MIDDLE townhome. Check.....So. I have precalced the LC/LC using Flythrough mode That took about 1:10. Perfect. Now I am precaling the Ir map with Medium animation settings and Brute Force and the Secondary. I am doing that every 100 frames. Do I need to use Brute force when I do this....Or can I choose NONE. And which mode for Ir is best...Single Frame, Multiframe incremental, add to current map....etc...

I had a chance to render out a part of my animation over the weekend and I did not precalc anything...I just had it calced for every frame and I got about 16 econds worth...It looks freakin awesome, except for my cars that are moving were leaving "trail shadows" on the road..Oops...But all in all it looked awesome...Thanx for your advice..

Edit: Oh...and is it still cool to render out the IR at 1/2 my res. I am doing standard 720*486 and was going to calc at 320*240..etc..etc..Thanx again

Why are you calculating LC and IR and Brute Force? Brute force is not saved. Just do a lighting pass set to every nth frame with IR multiframe/LC walkthrough. Autosave both, and load them for the render pass.

You do not need to use animation presets unless you have moving objects in your scene.

Rendering IR at medium presets at half res is almost identical in speed and quality to rendering at full-size with low presets. So why bother?

Ouch... I was just following a couple of threads here and one of them I believe said this was a cool way to do it...But I have been wrong before... I do have some moving cars and people, so I guess I need the presets, but it turned out cool. I just need more servers. Thanx all
