  • Edit spawner server config file?

Where is the spawner server config file for the user profile? I need to edit an IP number that isn't changing in the DR server list. And it would be nice to have a copy of this file, so I don't have to type in all the servers on all the computers.

You're looking for the vray_dr.cfg file?

It could be in two places depending on how you have the user profiles set up.

    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Autodesk\3dsmax\2009 - 64bit\enu\plugcfg

Where username is your logon name. This might be in a hidden folder for you.

    If you've disabled user profiles:
    C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2008\plugcfg

If you're trying to set up DR through BB you'll need to create it on the render nodes.

I don't have a max 9 version of vray_dr.cfg on my computer - hidden or not. I have an old Max 6 one - but it doesn't have IP numbers either.

I want to change the IP number of a spawner in the server list manually, cause every time I remove and add the machine name again - Vray shows the old IP number that used to be on that name which is now reassigned to a different machine.

How to make it clear out?
      thanks.

Sounds like it might not be a vray problem. You might need to flush the dns on your workstation and/or on your dns server.

If you ping the computer by name from a cmd prompt, is it getting the new or old IP address?

        Type: ping servername

If it's getting the old IP address flush the dns:
        type: ipconfig -flushdns

Under the max root install directory (C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 200

                Open the InstallSettings.ini
                change: useUserProfiles=1 to useUserProfiles=0
