  • Crome & glass problems

    Hi friends,

here i am in some problems, i am working in some renders of cosmetic products and im having serious problems with clear glass working whith crome or gold surfaces.

I recive the models from Rhino like STL format. I dont Know if the image have that crazy an noisy refraction /reflections because of the import model, or for the material settings, or the hdri envirioment, etc. Somebody kind who can share his wisdom/workflow in this type of situations?

Im crazy changing the hdri envirioments, putting some black/white/selfilumination cards or surfaces to refect, moveing the lights, changing the settings, etc. Im going crazy with this.

    Please some body help me.

    Thx a lot.

    here the i.e. images link.

Sorry I have a mistake, the models I recive are 3ds imported from rhino. I recive STLs from solid works too. but the images are rhino models.

    Thx

I don't understand what your trying to say. Are you having problems with your studio setup or with the model?

you're suffering from over reflectivity. Turn down your reflection and darken your chrome. I would swap out your hdri with a black and white sphere. It doesn't seem to be working in that particular shot.

            Hi

You also have no light passing through your glass, what is the OIR ? Fresnel reflections ?, i think you just need to set up the scene properly.

              Hi

just took a quick look at you scene and i think the reason your model looks bad is because you meshes are not welded at the vertex points.

once you fix this then the IOR levels should look correct and work properly.

                Found it..

1 your model isnt welded @ the seams.
2 the first part of the model that goes over the top is not a solid model and has a hole at the top, given the glass no thinkness, meaning no OIR of glass and all reflection.

also do a STL mesh check, this will give you an indication to wether the mesh is good or bad also.

in short the model is no good not your set up ..
