  • moire problem

    hi everyone,
this is my first project with vray.
i cant get rid of the moire effect in the wood facade material (has a bump
    map included).
i tried lowering the noise treshh. in dmc to 0,002, high preset in irrmap, and had no sucess.
which aa-filter is recommendet to use to avoid this problem and what else can i try?

in maxmaterials i have the opportunity to make a materialbased higher quality sampling.
is there also a possibility in vray to get better sampling for special materials, to avoid high settings on the whole scene to deal a local problem?

    thanks

as first choice I would try without any aa filters; that to let the sampler to perform at its best.
If you really need any sort of filter, as general rule, it's reccomended to avoid sharpenig filter

Which anti aliasing are you using? Adaptive dmc or adaptive subdivision? Adaptive subdivision might do a better job in this case.

i used adaptive dmc with mitchell-natravali.

first i tried adaptive subdivision with area filter, then rised the global subdivision from 1 to 3, then riesed the min samples from 8 to 32...result, same moire effect.
then i rendert the picture with a 3 times higher resolution 3000x3000 than 1000x1000. this solved the problem, it even works with global subdivision 1 and min samples 8.

Use blurring filter (area for example), to lower moire.
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

dmc at 15 - 200 would probably fix it also

render times wouldn't be as high as you think either.

i guess you mean the min samples in dmc, sorry for asking i´m totally new in vray.
