  • no specular with opacity-maps?

    Hi there

i recently encountered a problem with a rendering which i want to show you.
compare the two pics below. on the one above the material is quite reflective/glossy.
on the second the speculars are completely missing due to a opacity-map i applied to the geometry respectively.
could anyone point out the mistake i did?
    thanks in advance.

    glossy:

    with opacity-map / non glossy

I'm confused why this made a difference? The checkbox only dictates whether the default value of 1.6 is locked or not...

This is corrected for SP2, but the actual reason for the problem is that there is somewhat more complicated logic behind this, which has to do with volume shaders - when you use the fog color, V-Ray creates a volumetric shader for the object; there is an optimization to not create this shader if the object uses opacity mapping and has a white fog color. There was a small bug there that caused the original issue in the thread.

          Best regards,
