  • Glossy Problem

    Hello,

I just noticed the following behaviour of glossy reflections.
On some parts, the object looks like beeing flat shaded.
Is there anything that can be done about it, or anything I´m doing wrong ?
(Just a standard Vray material with reflections and glossiness)

    regards,

    sam

I have the same problem with anisotropic "on" :

    Strange squares into reflection glossiness...

    Vray 1.5SP1 64Bits + max 2008 64Bits...

Vlado I could send you a sample scene as soon as NDA fall in the next few days...

    Best regards...

It´s just a test scene... A Plane with some procedural material applied and a glossy sphere
(Vray material out of the box diffuse black and glossy reflections).
I tried nearly everything.. and the only thing that solves the behaviour is switching to
        phong shading.
It happens under any circumstances I tested. Vray Sun, HDRI, default lights, secondary GI
QMC or Lightcache.. different cuttoff parameters.

Yes, there is a "Soften" parameter for the BRDF in SP2 which helps to deal with such issues, until we roll out the V-Ray BRDF.

                          Best regards,
                          Vlado
