  • shadow cast inside a light

I did a cable connected to a luminous sphere.
My prob is that the part of the cable inside the sphere is dark,
as if receiving shadow from sphere.

BUT the sphere doesn't cast shadow.
Scene is only lighten by GI env color (no light).
The luminous sphere is either a stndard auto-illum mat
or a VRaylight mat with fallof refraction...

How to get rid of this dark part ???

if its only lit by environment light did you set the sphere not to block GI light? its in vray properties in your right click quad. If using max properties the shadows peramiter will only refer to the shadows created by lights. not by the environment light created by GI methods

"set the sphere not to block GI light"

If you mean turning off "visible to GI" then rendering is ok
but the object no more emits light.

A solution is : I should duplicate the object
and make the 2nd one not visible but emiting light...
But is there a way to do this on the same object ?
