  • Vray Velocity

I'm having issues with the vray velocity render element. I have a bottle rotating along with a camera animation. But when I use the real motion blur plugin in after effects it gives me an undesirable outcome. I've attached a few images of the blur effect in AE along with the velocity pass from vray. I would think since the bottle is spinning the motion blur would be spiral, and the other frames the blur creates a weird effect.

    Thanks

Your velocity pass does not appear to be properly scaled; when rendering to a LDR format you need to adjust the velocity scale factor so that no component goes over 1.0 (or 255 in integer values), otherwise all the information will be clamped away.

Also, it may be necessary to flip the vertical (green component) of the velocity channel.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

Yep the scale fixed it. Thanks, Vlado

I have the same problem, could you explain the right way to fix it?

        Thanks

In the options/parameters for the VrayVelocity renderelement you can set "max velocity", try rendering a frame (low rendersettings if you wish) where theres alot of movement, then check back at the parameters and the "max velocity in last frame" should be something other than 0,0. Now set your "max velocity" to the value in "max velocity in last frame" or alittle higher. That should solve the problem.
