  • "Missing dll" on render client

    Hello

yesterday I have installed Max and VRay on a new render client. The client is the first PC running Windows Vista (home 32 bit).
When rendering a test scene (box with VRaydirt Map on a vray plane), backburner shows me an error:
"Missing dll: vraydirt90.dlt - VRayDirt; Missing dll: vrayplane90.dlo - VRayPlane"

I have checked the 3ds max plugin folder twice. All relevant VRay dlo/dll files are there.

    What might cause that problem?
To me it looks like VRay installed anything into the wrong folder. But that's not true (at least it seems so).

Check the plugin.ini file and make sure the "additional v-ray plugins" folder is the last one.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

      Thank you Vlado!

When I tried to save the "plugin.ini" an error message appeared. Vista told me that the chosen folder is not available. This ist strange cause I did not try to save the file anywhere else.
There seems to be another problem which might cause the vray render problem.
We use the German language Version of Vista. I installed 3dsmax and VRay into the folder "C:\Programme\Autodesk\3ds max 2008\"

But Vista seems to it seek in the folder "Program files" instead of "Programme". I think that might be an translation issue of Vista.
Will have to dig for some further information.

But thank you for the given tip so far!

I think you need to open it from a program with Administrator privileges or turn UAC off before that.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

Yes! Thank you Vlado. Besides the UAC, I had to deactivate a few odd tools which had been installed with that special Vista version (preconfigured by the PC manufacturer).
Then I had to reinstall 3ds max and VRay. Now it works fine!
