  • shadows when alpha contribution is -1

    Hi Guys,

Got a problem that I need help with.

I have a car on a white vray plane. The cars' alpha contribution (in vray properties) is set to 1 (by default). The vray plane I have set alpha contribution to -1. I save this render out as a 48bit png with alpha.

So the render looks fine, but I open up the png in photoshop and the shadows on the plane are not there. I understand why, but how do i get the shadows to be visible in the render but only have the car alpha contribution 1.

These renders need to be dropped in on a flash website, so the cars need to be seperate like this.

    Any help is appreciated
    Regards

Render on a black background and set the 'direct light' shadows to on. That will give you shadows.

The direct light shadows checkbox is near the alpha contribution spinner.

Ok, so i have a black background and my vray plane properties set to

      matt object - checked

      alpha contribution - 0.0

      directlight

      shadows - checked

      affect alpha - checked

Still doesnt work. All i get is the car showing up, but no shadows (which i do want) underneath and no plane (which i dont want).

Do i need to use a vray material wrapper or something for the plane ?
      Regards

Worked it out. I was changing the vray properties of the object. It seems I need to use the vray material wrapper to get the result I required.

        Thanks
