different results with rc3 and rc4

hi, i wanted to edit an rc3 project with vray rc4 and get different render results. i checked not to use the new vray sun etc when i was asked for it by opening the scene. what am i doing wrong?

why dont you try with sp2 ??

You're doing nothing wrong but it's an unfortunate side effect of gi renderers - as the algorithms and samplers change the results will vary slightly - most often in brightness. Your best bet is reinstall rc3 and re-render as you'll take a while trying to mess with colour mapping to match them.

Ideally you should use as few builds of a render as possible to avoid this - not easy admittedly but it's why vlado recommends sticking to solid builds like 1.09, rc3 and 1.5xx

@ joconell: thanks for the advices. i get a dialogbox in vray 1.50 sp2, when i open an max file with a former vray version. although i decline to use the new models of vray sun/sky/phys cam i get the incorrect results. so what is the dialogbox for? i also tried out other older projects with vray 1.50 sp2, and get correct renderings there, same as with the former vray versions, no idea why it happens only here that the result differs...

is it possible to use 2 different versions of vray on one pc, without making partitions?
