  • Spontanious daylight placement?

I'm having some weird behavior in almost every scene i'm working on.

The scenes all contain one daylight system.
At random intervals a daylight system or vraysun is added to my scene. Sometimes it's a daylight system including a compass, sometimes without and sometimes only a vraysun.

I don't have shortcuts (or am i missing something?) setup to place them, and haven't been able to figure out when it exactly happens.

I use a few scripts from time to time, but even if i don't use them, the lights still are added to the scene every now and then.

Anyone can shed a light on this?

The most annoying about this is that i have to reassign the original daylight to the vraysky, since the vraysky loses its settings as a new sun or daylight is added. Then have to re-instance it to the vray GI-environment override slot.

Do you always get a daylight system with a VRaySun in it or it stays the default sun? Have you used any 3ds Max Defaults switcher?

      Best regards,

It's always a VraySun in the daylightsystem, but a seperate new VraySun sometimes appears as well.
Just now i had the VraySky losing it's link to the daylight system again, this time without addition of daylight or VraySuns.

No, i don't use the default switcher, vray forever! :P

Do you merge something from other scenes?

          Best regards,

Yeah, but objects and groups without (day)lights/sun only. I'll be keeping my selection-floater open to see when it occurs.

Apperently i'm the only one experiencing this, so i have a creepy feeling it's a user-error... I'll post when i know more.

There is a particular issue with 3ds Max: if you merge from a scene that had a VRaySky with a VRaySun linked to it (instead of the default automatic mode), 3ds Max may drag the VRaySun into your current scene by mistake. I can't quite remember if this only happened if the VRaySky was in the material editor in the scene being merged or not...

              Best regards,
              Vlado

I almost always have the vraysky in the mat-editor, so that might be the case. The scenes i merge from are also almost all with a manually linked vraysky and vraysun in a daylight system. I'll keep an eye on changes after a merge.

Right now i suddenly have a Sun02 in my scene, at 0,0,0 with no properties at all.... doesn't show in selection dialogbox either.
I guess that even if you're not paranoid, doesn't mean they're not after you
