I would like to use a plane in the scene for a background. What to I have do setup this plane that I have this excluded from the alpha, but still visible in the rendering?

    Hi,

Select the object, right click, VRay properties and change the Alpha contribution to 0.

Actually, -1.0 I believe is what you want, not 0?

          Hi,

Setting the background's alpha to 0 or -1 would probably do the same thing in this case.

As I understand it, if you just need the background plane not to show in the alpha channel then setting the alpha contribution to 0 will do that. If you have an foreground object in front of a background plane and you want a 'hole' cut into the background plane's alpha where the object is then you would set the object's alpha contribution to -1.
