Glowing blotches

I am *sure* I've seen this before, but can't find how to get rid of it. I have a few max spotlights (with vray shadows), a vraysun (turned off as I only want it to control the skylight strength/colour).

What else should I be looking for?

Well, it seems I have solved the problem. You need to check 'invisible' on the vraysun, even though it is turned off!

Yep, because the sun disk is actually a part of the sky (which reads the invisible option from the sun).
