Black Dots - Splotches or AA Problem ?

Hi Guys,

I am having this dirty splotches problems.
Please see the image below for my settings and problems.



As you can see, the 'dirty' area there actually has thin fins.
I am not very sure if this is GI problem or AA problem.

It becomes less visible with high AA settings such as 2/-1 or -2/0 but still noticeable.
I also tried high Interp. Samples such as 120, but same result : less visible -but still noticeable.

Is there any quick solution for this without trading up render times?

quick note that 200 interp samples is way too high, understanding how it works is important, the more interp samples the blurrier the gi lighting will be (less precise to achieve a smoother result). I've never used anything above 40, but other might have a different story.

It appears to be gi related. try -3 -1, hsph:80 interp:20 and look at the better detailing on the gi light.

I tried this today, and it turns out quite acceptable, still have some minor dirty area but most of them are cleared.

GI IrMap/BruteForce -3/0 Hsph.50 Interp.40
Sec. Bounce 5
Render time 12min. at 1600xSomething

Will increase Hsph at my next try ...
