  • Proxies Don't Render With DR

Is it simply impossible to render a scene with proxies using DR?

I have worked the better part of a day trying to get it work, to no avail.
I spent hours making sure all paths were accessible by my machines and everything used UNC's.

Anyone know of a fix for this problem?

I render proxies with DR all the time with no problem.

I just got them to render, but I had to get rid of my UNC paths and copy the files over to my slave machine. As long as the files are actually on the slave and accessed directly, it renders.

I know that this should not be necessary, but can not figure out why it isnt working properly.

Don't know either. I only use DR with proxies with UNC. Are you sure the UNC path is correct? I sometimes move proxies and you can't globally change their path, you have to do it manually.

Paths are correct. My host computer name is MachV....so my paths are

          \\MachV\H Drive\3dsmax\proxies

I had the System path on the slave set to the "proxies" set to the above and also had External Files path set to the same.

Is the problem only with proxies, or all referenced files such as bitmaps?

I found out the problem. A reply was posted on Chaos related to making the paths Relative. Once I did that, using UNC naming, I found that my Project Folder was incorrect. So whatever file path I put in for materials, maps etc, was never being located properly.

I changed the Project Folder on the Configure User Paths menu to the proper UNC and then made all the rest of the paths relative to that.

              Now everything renders great.
