  • Matte object with Fumefx.

Hi, I made a matte object which it default matte material in max 2008.

    Matte/Shadow.

I clicked on Atmoshpere and turned off receive alpha, or affect alpha, and reflection alpha cause I dont need them.

It worked without Fumefx render off, but when I tried to render with fumefx, the alpha with the matte is not working.. it just rendered black with full(1) alpha..

    Whats wrong...?

I am using latest version of Vray I guess.

matte/shadow is a 3ds max native matte material. Vray uses a different kind of matte material. But also, since fume is an atmospheric render, it may be that it does not work well with vray at all. Usually vray uses material wrapper or in vray object properties there are matte options on per object basis.

Is there any info that shows me where is the option?

      Thanks a lot!

I have found problems with the vrayMatWrapper (was a while ago, so could be updated). I use Vray Object properties for matting with FumeFX. Never had any problems!

V-Ray will produce GI from any atmospheric effect, but it usually needs unclamped colors for this (otherwise the resulting illumination will be too weak). I don't know if FumeFX outputs these correctly now.

Gi from FumeFX works fine. There is even a VrayGI multiplier in the fire settings to set it to what ever level you need
