  • Big scene, bad paths of maps and proxies

    Max 9 SP2, Vray 1.5 SP2, WinXP 64 bit

I have a scene, which has a number of problems, mostly as I found out, related to network paths of maps and proxies.

Today I did some work at home, saved the max file, went to the office and then tried to load it. No luck, max crashes every time, no matter if ot was Direct3d or Opengl, Network or no network.

I copied all the maps and proxies together with the scene, tried to load it from there, same result. Copied the whole folder to the HDD, disconnected the network, but still nothing. Tried to merge, but still no GO.

I took my machine from home and found out the paths and maps are quite messed up (i knew that), they load from a few places, and there are duplicates. But even on my home pc, when it is connected to the office network, the scene crashes. I stripped the paths, didn't help either.

I have a few frames to render, they're not heavy, but I wanted to use the render farm at the office and now I can't.

I found out that if I unistall VRAY the scene opens, so its vray related.

I haven't tried to use the stuff collector with that scene, would it correct anything in that case? And if Vray is uninstalled?

    Mmm

The reason for the crashes was a single proxy, which for some reason only renders on my home pc, but crashes everything else on opening.

Got rid of it and the scene opens just fine.
